Hmm, it get welded, the only way to remove it is using some special tools. But you can still using it by use a battery holder, cut the metal out of the battery and put in in the holder like normal.

The nickel strip on the battery packs I have is approx 0.3mm thick and is nickel-coated steel strip. It is welded 4 times per cell per side (2 weld operations, 4 indents from the spot welding pins). The diameter of the indents is approximately 1mm or perhaps 0.8mm. My current approach: The pliers look like these:

If it's the BMS, just swap it out with a new one. The BMS keeps an eye on the battery pack's performance and makes sure everything's working within safe limits. Replace the bad BMS, and your battery pack should be good to go. If you've got bad cells, though, you'll need to swap them with matched cells.
