Our capacitors (>15,000 designs) are used in many of the most demanding applications imaginable. Historically, every one of our capacitor designs was tailor-made to meet a specific customer's needs. At Custom, we use "Grade A" mica paper in our capacitors because it is an excellent dielectric.

Mica capacitors come in different sizes and shapes, but the most common shape is square or rectangular….brown in color with colored dots (sort of look like "dominos"). Capacitors have either "radial" leads or "axial" leads. With "radial" type, both leads exit from the same end of the capacitors.
Also, there are various types of ceramic capacitors with different operating properties. If a ceramic capacitor is a "general purpose/temperature stable" type it can be usually be replaced with a mica or film capacitor...but "temperature-compensating types" of ceramic caps should be replaced with same type.
A reconstituted mica capacitor is made by winding mica in combination with capacitor-grade aluminum foil and then epoxy impregnating it to create high reliability capacitors. These capacitors typically consist of approximately 85% mica, 14% epoxy impregnant material, and 1% capacitor-grade aluminum foil.
