Free QuoteFaster Charging Times: Lithium batteries can charge significantly faster than lead-acid batteries. A lithium battery can often reach a full charge in just a few hours, while lead-acid batteries may take up to 12 hours to charge fully. This rapid charging capability provides convenience and increased availability.
Free QuoteThe idea is a lithium battery built to "act" like a lead acid to a charger. Meaning, it will show similar current and voltage as a lead acid would to indicate its condition (fully charged, fully drained, half capacity, etc.). in my case my ups uses 2 12v lead acid batteries and full floating charge is around 25v so around 12.5v per battery

Free QuoteWith proper maintenance, a lead-acid battery can last between 5 and 15 years, depending on its quality and usage. They are also relatively inexpensive to purchase, making them a popular choice for applications where cost is a significant factor. Free QuoteII. Energy Density A. Lithium Batteries. High Energy Density: Lithium batteries boast a significantly higher energy density, meaning they can store more energy in a smaller and lighter package. This is especially beneficial in applications
Free QuoteTo un-wrap your head: The "12Ah" in your ''2x 12v 12ah sealed lead'' is also a measure for the charge/discharge "C-rate". A ''sealed lead acid'' (SLA) can not be charged faster than C3 (3 hours), if your existing charger does indeed fully charges in 3 hours (at 4A) then a lighter (smaller) SLA of let''s say 6Ah will be charged with 6Ah/4A=1.5hr is C1.5, which can sort of destroy the battery.
Free QuoteThe nominal voltage of the lithium-ion cell is 3.2V, which means that multiples of four of these cells give you a battery with a nominal voltage of 12.8V, which closely compares to the lead acid battery, which has six cells of 2.1V and a voltage of 12.6V. This allows you to make a straight swap of a lithium battery for lead-acid.

Free QuoteWith Lead Acid, what we try to do is fill the batteries to the max as quickly as we can. These batteries last longer if kept almost full but will fight against being fully charged.
Free QuoteAGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries, a type of lead-acid battery, are often used for deep cycle applications. They''re spill-proof, require less maintenance, and handle deeper discharges better than traditional flooded lead-acid batteries. However, they''re still heavy, have a shorter lifespan compared to LiFePO4 batteries, and are prone to
Free QuoteOver 80% of all uninterruptible power supply service issues are battery related. UPS batteries age whether in use or in storage. This is because a battery stores electrical energy using a chemical process and their working life
Free Quotelead acid batteries retain their best shelf life when kept trickle charged as opposed to most lithium batteries which do not like being fully charged for a prolonged period of time. You have to keep them at a lower SoC if you want them to retain their capacity over time, which means you''ll need a bigger one and then add even more to the cost.
Free QuoteA Lead-acid battery will have a maximum Depth of Discharge (60-80%), this will reduce your effective capacity to 63Ah-84Ah. Lifepo4 does not have this limitation and will have 100% of the capacity usable. The voltage range of a 12 cell Lead-acid battery (28.8 - 22.2V) is quite similar to an 8 cell lifepo4 battery (24 - 29.2V).
Free QuoteNo refrigerator, no AC, no electric heat, nothing like that. His lead-acid golf-cart batteries are getting old, and at least one cell is damaged so I wanted to help him replace the batteries with LiFePO4. Free QuoteThey become more resistive as they are filled. A smart charger can completely fill a Lead Acid battery over time, far better than a split charger, as it uses different stages of charging. So with Lead Acid, a smart charger is used to keep the battery full. Adding a larger smart charger won''t necessarily charge a Lead Acid battery faster.

Yes, you can swap lead-acid batteries with lithium-ion ones in many cases. But, you must check if the system fits the new battery's needs. This includes voltage, charging, and space. The right lithium battery, like LiFePO4 (LFP) or Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt (Li-NMC), ensures top performance and life.
Just make sure before you disconnect your old lead acid to take a picture of the wiring and wire the new ones back up the same way. you will get a bit higher voltage & you will get more amp hours out of them (run time). Also make sure to buy from a trusted vendor there is a bunch of knock off batteries out there.
Harvesting from scrap lead acid batteries is a gamble, as any slight ionic contamination discharges the cells, making them useless. If you're determined to do it, make a test cell using a couple of little bits of lead, charge it in the prospective acid, and test its self discharge time.
Just a tad.. I think this raises the issue of optimal installation of lithium to replace lead vs can you just replace lead with lithium, in a potential less than perfectly optimised way. The answer is you absolutely can drop in some makes of lithium batteries without too much worry or any changes to your current setup.
