We use battery power to drive a lot of our electronics. But if an electrical device doesn't need to be portable all the time it would be nice to be able to power it with AC and not waste the batteries. So in this project, I show you how to modify an old AC power adapter so that it can power your electronics instead of batteries.
Use Dummy Batteries: If required, insert dummy batteries to complete the electrical circuit. Modify the Compartment: Gently close the battery compartment. For a seamless fit, you may need to drill a small hole to accommodate the cable. Connect to Power: Attach the adapter to a wall outlet using a USB or power adapter.
You can use a voltage selectable battery to wall power converter and set the unit to the equivalent input power voltage, in accordance with the chart below. The voltage selectable battery to plug – in wall adapter works by utilizing “dummy” batteries, as similar to the standard plug adapters already discussed.
Another option for connecting the power supply to the electrical device is to use a substitute or dummy battery. This is anything that takes the shape of the battery and fits in the battery housing, but is used to connect the power supply to the terminals of the battery connectors on the device.
