The Major Solar Projects List is a database of all ground-mounted solar projects, 1 MW and above, that are either operating, under construction or under development.
There are more than 7,570 major solar projects currently in the database, representing over 290 GWdc of capacity. There are over 1,120 major energy storage projects currently in the database, representing more than 43,650 MWh of capacity. The list shows that there are more than 150 GWdc of major solar projects currently operating.
Above a threshold (set out in Section 15 of the Planning Act 2008) of more than 50MW for onshore and more than 100 MW for offshore generation, solar farms will be treated as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, for which a Development Consent Order must be sought from the Secretary of State.
