Consequently, now is the time for Korea to prepare for and fully embrace a more grid-friendly charging infrastructure for the future. Korea has deployed various charging infrastructure, from multiple-outlet ultrafast dc charging stations to built-in metering ac outlets, to relieve range anxiety and improve accessibility.
Based on the simulation results, the optimal system for a renewable power generation-based EV charging station in Korea was composed of a 30 kW PV and 2 ESSs configurations, with a total NPC of 104,756.
The ratio of renewable power generation of renewable-based EV charging stations currently operating in Korea is about 25%. In consideration of this, an additional analysis was conducted for the cases with an REF of 25%.
Regarding the contribution of clean energies, the REF of the renewable energy generation system can play a crucial role. As shown in this study, the optimal REF for the EV charging station was found to be 25% or less, considering economic evaluation and carbon emissions.
